Rabbi Abi Oshins
Rabbi Abi Oshins is the Assistant Rabbi of Temple Beth-El. A New England native, Abi grew up in Newton, Massachusetts, where she attended The Rashi Day school. In school, at synagogue, at camp, and around the Shabbat table with family, Abi fell in love with Judaism. After receiving a degree in English Education and Theater from Boston University, Abi spent the first part of her career as a synagogue youth educator, deeply immersed in the learning programs at Temple Beth Elohim in Wellesley and Temple Beth Shalom in Needham. Abi specialized in experiential education, helping kids (and occasionally adults) develop relationships with each other and Jewish tradition through art, theater, and text study. Abi also spent nine summers working at Jewish summer camp – seven at URJ Eisner Camp and two at URJ Six Points Creative Arts.
She received rabbinic ordination from Hebrew College in Newton, Massachusetts, in May of 2026. During her time there she served as the Rabbinic Intern at Temple Sinai in Brookline and Temple Beth Shalom in Needham, and OneTable, a shabbat organization. Abi also served as the Interim Spiritual Leader at Mikve Israel-Emmanuel of Curaçao, a small vibrant community in the Caribbean.
In her free time Abi enjoys creating and appreciating all kinds of art. Her newest hobby is ceramics, but you are likely to find her painting, stitching, singing, doodling, or cooking. She loves a good (or bad) television show or novel, and will gladly talk to you about the media she is currently consuming. Abi’s favorite activity is sharing a delicious meal with family and friends. She looks forward to exploring Providence and greater Rhode Island!
