Rabbi Adam Lavitt

Rabbi Adam Lavitt is a writer, chaplain, ritual facilitator, and educator. He offers an approach to Judaism that promotes spirituality and social justice. Rabbi Adam grew up in Northbrook, a small suburb on the north shore of Chicago. He graduated cum laude from Kenyon College, where he received his B.A. in Religious Studies and English Literature. In 2012, Rabbi Adam was ordained at the Rabbinical School of Hebrew College. Over the course of his learning he also studied at Pardes, BINA's Secular Yeshiva, Alma and the Conservative Yeshiva.

Rabbi Adam has taught at institutions including Hillels, synagogues, and other Jewish communal organizations across the country and abroad. Co-founder of the Movement Minyan, a technique that explores Jewish liturgy through embodied practice, he was the 2012 National Havurah Summer Institute Liturgist in Residence. As a CLAL-Rabbis without Borders Fellow, Rabbi Adam offered spiritual leadership to the unaffiliated Jewish community in Providence. He is also an alumnus of the JOIN for Justice Clergy Fellowship, and the Boston Bridges Fellowship. Former Assistant Editor of Zeek magazine, he has been published in the Huffington Post, MyJewishLearning, The Wisdom Daily, and Jewschool. 

Rabbi Adam serves as Rabbi and Chaplain at Orchard Cove, a campus of Hebrew SeniorLife in Canton, MA. He is also a Jewish Spiritual Director in Providence and at Hebrew College’s Rabbinical School. Rabbi Adam is currently training in prayer leadership through the Davennen Leadership Training Institute, while pursuing board certification as a chaplain. When he is not working, he enjoys reading, making art, and reveling in nature. Rabbi Adam lives in Providence with his husband, Alex.
