Picture
Rabbi Allan Meyerowitz is a Board Certified Chaplain, having complete 7 units of CPE and one year supervisory training at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. After 26 years as pulpit rabbi in the US and Canada, he worked in the VA Pittsburgh specializing in PTSD patients returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. He has also served as a chaplain in hospice, hospital and in prisons.  He presently is serving as the Director of Spiritual Care in The Miriam Hospital in Providence

In his youth he was an activist  as the Vice Chairman of the Student Struggle for Soviet Jewry and Chairman of the Soviet Jewry Committee of the Rabbinical Assembly,  visiting Russia and engaging in numerous political activities on behalf of Russian Jewry. During his tenure in  Atlanta Ga., Allan organized and was the commissioner of   the Yeshiva Ohr Yisrael Ice Hockey League. He received a master degree, doctorate and ordination from the Jewish Theological Seminary and received Orthodox Smicha from Harav  Avraham Meir Gluck   shil’ta of Monsey NY.

He is married to Robin Meyerowitz who is the Founding Director of the Maimonides School Early Childhood Center  in Brookline.  They are the proud parents of 4 adult children—2 in the US  and 2 in Israel (Beitar Illit and Rechovot) and they are especially delighted by their  growing team of bilingual, Torah loving grandchildren. The Meyerowitz family is directly descended from the  Chatam Sofer zt’zl and Moreinu Akiva Eiger zt”zl.
