The Jewish Alliance and Board of Rabbis Stand with the Providence College Community

The Jewish Alliance of Greater Rhode Island and Board of Rabbis of Greater Rhode Island strongly condemn the anti-Semitic and anti-Catholic vandalism and destruction of property that was recently perpetrated at the Dominican Community Cemetery at Providence College. We extend our wishes for a speedy recovery to the Public Safety Officer who was assaulted while confronting the suspect.

The Jewish community has a history of working with Providence College through their Jewish-Catholic Dialogue program, and we stand with the PC community in saying that this kind of hateful conduct is unacceptable. We applaud the school’s administrators and Public Safety Officers for their immediate response as well as their ongoing commitment to creating and maintaining an inclusive, engaged campus and a safe and secure environment for every member of their diverse community.

We are committed to working together with the administration at Providence College and have offered our support in any way it’s needed. We will continue the work we do, in collaboration with our partners, to educate people as to the dangers of anti-Semitism and hate in any form.
